About me
welcome - welkom - karibu!
My name is Britta, I was born in 1964 and nature photography is my door "inbetween worlds ". Being outdoor in the wild and nature - I have been loving since my childhood. However, I firsty met photography in 2003: First attempts with a Pentax Super A. This was followed by a Nikon F100, but only the switch from analogue to digital photography (Nikon D80) took me completely into the spell of nature photography.
Besides the knowledge of image design and technology, I quickly realized that this type of photography was mainly characterized by patience, taking into account all the circumstances, waiting for good light and hours of endurance - in winter getting cold and in summer the mosquitoes proved to stand out. The most important preparation for me (at the same time relaxation) is the extensive observation and study of my animal motif and its behavior in the habitat of my own. So I can predict behavior and situations. Experience gives security in surprising moments, yet: The feeling is already needed! And the thrill, of course, is always to get an enchanting or stunning picture.
The nature conservation and the trouble-free handling of the bird or animal are always mostly important. If a top photo means a disturbance of the animal or entering a protected place, I renounce the photo...
The moments behind my camera offer me islands in my daily life. Holding the cam frees my mind. So far, photo trips took me to France, to the Netherlands and there to Texel, to Austria, to Switzerland, to Sweden and Norway and to East Africa.
In addition, photography means to me the art of reflecting my own impressions and perspectives, transporting emotions and experiences - and setting them in a frame for the viewer. I like to translate the moment and let pictures tell stories, give a view through the keyhole.
Actually, I shoot with a Nikon D500 and D850, a Nikon AF-S VR 4.0 /500mm and AF-S Nikkor 2.0 /200mm, extenders and shorter focal lengths, tripods and bean bag and a camouflage tent. As a homage to analogue times I still own my Nikon F100 - safe at home in the closet.
All my photos are my personal property and copyright protected. They may not be used, copied or published without my written permission, nor are they open for private use. I will answer queries for this matter.
Best,
Britta
